Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information RainingMoney ("we", "us", "our") collects when you visit therainingmoney.com, how we use it, and who we share it with. It is written for Google AdSense’s publisher requirements as well as for our readers.

Who we are

RainingMoney is an independent financial and business publication operated from Nigeria, at therainingmoney.com. For privacy questions, email [email protected].

Information we collect

Newsletter subscriptions: if you subscribe, we collect the email address you submit. It is stored in our Firebase/Firestore database and used only to send RainingMoney newsletter mail. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers.

Cookie choice: if you use the cookie banner, we store rm-cookie-consent in your browser’s local storage so we can remember Accept or Decline. That value does not identify you by name.

Content you send us: emails to editor@, corrections@, advertise@, or [email protected], and optional fields on the $100 Million Question form (name, email, country, profession, social handle) if you submit an entry.

Technical data our hosts see: Cloudflare (hosting and delivery) and Google Firebase (database and, for staff only, authentication) process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested in order to run the site.

Analytics: we use Google Analytics on the public site to count readers and see which stories they read, where they came from (for example a search engine or a social network), their country and their type of device. It may set the cookies listed in our Cookie Policy; if you choose Decline non-essential on the cookie banner, it stops using cookies for you. Google processes this data for us; we see totals, not individuals, and we do not send it your name or email. We do not use Meta Pixel or any other audience-measurement tag.

Advertising data: we do not currently serve ads and we do not currently share reader data with Google for advertising. If AdSense is approved and we enable ads, Google will process data as described under “Google advertising” below.

How we use information

  • To publish journalism and operate the website
  • To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to honour unsubscribe and deletion requests
  • To consider challenge submissions and, where you opted in, to feature them with your name
  • To respond to tips, corrections, and partnership mail
  • To keep the site secure and available
  • To understand, in totals, which stories readers find useful (Google Analytics)
  • Once ads are live, to display Google ads as described below

Google advertising (when ads are live)

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Our Google Analytics measurement (described above) is separate from advertising: we have not turned on Google’s advertising features in it. When ads are enabled, Google AdSense may use cookies and identifiers for ad serving and measurement. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained here:

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, Google also requires a certified consent management platform before personalized ads; we will not serve those personalized ads into those regions until that is in place.

See our Cookie Policy for the current list of cookies and similar storage.

Sharing

We share information with:

  • Google Firebase — stores articles, newsletter emails, and challenge submissions; staff sign-in for the CMS
  • Cloudflare — hosts and delivers the site
  • Google Analytics — measures readership for us, as described above (without cookies if you decline)
  • Google — only after ads are enabled, as an advertising partner as described above

We do not sell personal information. We do not share newsletter addresses with third parties for their own marketing.

Retention

Newsletter addresses are kept while you remain subscribed and deleted when you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Challenge submissions are kept for editorial consideration of that challenge. Staff CMS accounts last for as long as the person has access. Server logs retained by Cloudflare follow Cloudflare’s retention practices.

Your rights

You may unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under applicable privacy law, including to object to certain processing.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We will update this policy when our practices change and change the “Last updated” date above.
