Rover—a year later than originally scheduled. Manufactured at the company's historical production plant in Solihull, England, the vehicle debuts with an entry-level price tag of £154,070, signaling a clear strategic bet on ultra-high-margin luxury to power corporate recovery.

The launch arrives at a critical juncture for the Coventry-headquartered automaker. Owned by India’s Tata Motors, JLR recently reported severe earnings erosion following a double blow: crippling supply chain disruptions from a major cyberattack and significant margin pressure stemming from US tariff adjustments. By positioning the new Range Rover EV at the top end of the luxury spectrum, JLR is attempting to maximize unit profitability rather than chase volume.

To execute the transition, JLR re-skilled 10,500 factory personnel and subjected the platform to extensive testing equivalent to 38 global circumnavigations. Crucially, the model features a bespoke commissioning service designed to capture high-margin customization revenues—offering tailored finishes, bespoke embroidery, and personalized paint schemes. As executive director Martin Limpert noted, the vehicle represents the culmination of a decade of technological development, positioning JLR to defend its market share against emerging luxury EV competitors.

RAININGMONEY EDITORIAL VIEW( WHY IT MATTERS)

Markets Impact: Serves as a primary earnings indicator for parent company Tata Motors, where JLR accounts for a dominant share of consolidated revenues.

Corporate Impact: Shifts JLR's operating model toward ultra-high-margin customization to absorb fixed costs and ongoing supply chain vulnerabilities.

Consumer Impact: Sets a new price benchmark for luxury electric utility vehicles, testing whether wealthy buyers will pay a premium for electrified classic marques. Future Risk: Execution delays or production bottlenecks could exacerbate balance sheet drag if global appetite for ultra-expensive EVs softens.
